I ordered some fish online including an EBJD. i ordered a small only because he was cheaper. When he arrived he was literaly an inch. I put him in a ten gallon for now but i want to know the growth rate on him and when i can put him with my oscar wich i no wont be for a while
Also does anybody know when he will actually turn "electric blue"?
Thanks in advance

well it depends on who you got him from... they used to be very fragile and sickly... they have been getting better still not the best... due to inbreeding ( to get the color) they are not as aggressive as normal JD nor do they grow as fast.. I have seen some show some nice powder blue colors by 2 -3inches but seems like yours has some now.... he will look better also once he is over the shock of traveling...

he might never be a great mach in your oscar tank do to him being a EBJD might not be aggressive enough or grow fast enough for it how big is the O again??

take good care of him they can be beautiful fish and there is a lot of color variation in this fish even with the EB variant! cant wait to see what he will look like .. look em up online there are some that look very diff but all are EBJD

really glad you got one

Do you think he could be around 5 inches in a year?

Definitely not in 1 year...It could take as long as 2-3 years.

EBJD are amazing but I would not put with oscar I had one for 3years he just about grew 5inches it was slow, he was very soft natured and wouldnt have a go at anyone. He went blind and sadly he died partly my fault because I was doing experiment which cause methane build up in my tank. :(

He should blue up nicely and looks like he will very skyblue coloured :)

I'm living my life, but not necessarily in the right order :)
