Hydroquarius created the topic: Blood parrot

I have a 5 inch blood parrot in a 150 with an oscar and some other cichlids. When i first got him he was a beautiful dark orange. Now he is much lighter. He is very active and eats normaly there are no water problems. It started when he found a hiding spot in an ancient rome decoration/cave. Then he slowly started getting lighter and more shy. That stopped after a while but he's still very light. Is this bad? I feed him top fin large cichlid pellets that are "color enhancing" yet i see no differnce
Thanks in advance
Hydro

Your tank setup is already hazardeous, the parrot is very aggressive ans isn't very suitable for a community tank.
you said "other cichlids" what do you mean by this ? most likely you have aggression issues in an overcrowded tank

Just a firemouth cichlid that is only 2.5 inches. I. Also heard that blood parrots can be good tank mates with oscars

Blood parrots arent the nicest fish, I had one who pretty much killed my first oscar and realy injured my 3rd. They have some red devil in them which can make them super aggresive.

if your parrot isnt beating on the other fish dont worry.

Parrots are known to change color, so as long as you're taking good care of your fish you shouldnt be worried.

My neighbor's blood parrot started off being a nice orange color when they got him. He's been around now for over 5 years and he's the brightest yellow i've ever seen. No tank mates with him either.

Blood parrots change color because of their midas or red devil geneaology
