So now my mother's Blood Parrot has these blacks marks all over it. Mostly above his head. What is this, is it treatable, and if so how can I fix it. Water parameters are as such:

PH: 7.4
Ammonia: 0 PPM
Nitries: 0 PPM
Nitrates: 10 PPM

Here's a photo of the poor little guy. Tank mates are my two Lutino Tigers (I keep wanting to call them albino, but I know better). They are in a 90 gallon tank. Also dealing with an ICH problem currently which has been clearing up for a couple of days now... water temperature is at 87 degrees.

A quick search turned up black spot disease which is common in blood parrots and is due to poor water quality. What test kit are you using? How big are his tankmates?

From most of the information that I have found, this only occurs when they are in poor water conditions. I don't see how I have poor water conditions with readings like I have other than the ICH issue. I'm hoping that in two weeks that this will go away once the ICH is gone and I can put the tank back to 82 degrees. This started with the ICH, so I'm hoping that it will finish with it as well. Just hoping that the little guy won't die.

On a brighter note, the little white spots from the ICH are gone from his body.

I've also never seen the two Oscars pick on him either. The three of them swim around the tank together, especially during feeding time.

black spotting will also occur due to stress...the oscars and high temp could be both contributing

So then I have two things that I need to do. One is solve the ICH problem, which is currently being done. Two is to rehome the parrot fish or get a different tank for him.

I know i'm probably going to catch some flak for this question, but can the parrot fish be ok in a 10 gallon tank for the time being once the ICH is gone?
