They are pretty but their size it what really puts me off on them.

Definitely to each their own in this hobby. There's a species of fish out there that can make just about anyone interested in their tanks for hours on end.

Excuse my ignorance but what's an emperor cichlid? I googled it but I don't think I found then fish that you guys are talking about
