Tilapia Mariae. Spotted Tilapia. West African.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_tilapia

I don't think it would do well w/ Oscars, can be VERY aggressive, along the lines of T. Buttekoferi.

African?! I fished this guy off a canal down here in florida and he was protecting his fry!
there are so many well stablished cichlid species in south florida, no wonder the native species have such a hard time competing with all of these invasive fish

Thanks a lot! :)

I agree with Jack. It's got the classic Tilapia mouth where the face kind of dives in a bit right before the mouth and fuller lips. The cutteri doesn't have this feature

Look very closely behind the gill plate in the OP's photo.....see the red? It's slight, but it's there.....

T. Mariae, 100%.

He's pretty small compared to my oscars, I would say about 6-7"

I'll have to get rid of him, he's pretty aggressive, specially towards my convict and baby GT

.....man, he sure looks delicious
