Picked up a new 75 for these guys this past weekend(now at 625 gallons of fish). I hope to set it up Saturday. As you guys predicted they are real terrors and seem to be growing really fast. I already had to move both JDs. I hope to have some new pics of the pike tank soon.

Yeah, I think that's a common theme with wild predatory fish and their 1st-2nd generation progeny. If you can get them to 16", you'll need to start saving up for a larger tank ;)

I mean they eat fish and do this by getting stranded in a small patch of water during dry season ( tank) and eat everything that live in there till they move to the next.. lol! some smaller ones eat lots of bugs also…


I have a buddy who is a ichthyologist and primary study is of pike cichlids. he actually is doing a project to further explore they hereditary of the pike cichlid in uruguay! cool dude Ed Burress is his name

I did read that these fish do not breed in captivity, but I assume mine are pond bred. Otherwise my lfs probably would not have had them. If they get over 8" threshold then they will get a bigger tank since I picked up the last three today, I now have five. I am amazed at how these fish interact with each other, they almost seem to have a pack mentality.
