Ich will last in the aquarium for quite a bit of time. You need to raise the temperature to 87F, and put salt in the aquarium at a rate of 3 tablespoons per 5 gallons. If the fish are alive, you need to add the salt over a 48 hour period, dissolving it in tank water first.

With any ich treatment, it gets worse before it gets better. The ich can only be killed while swimming in the water, which is very difficult to see.

My tank is 136 litres but if it's a tropical American tank won't the salt kill the fish

No, tropical fish will not die. Scaled fish can exist with salt in the aquarium for a short period of time (way below Marine levels). That's why you add salt slowly.

Raising the temperature works wonders, every time my fish came down with Ick I raised it up to about 87-88 degrees. Even when you see your fish no longer have the spots on them keep your temp up for another week or so, then gradually step it down by 1 degree per day until you reach your desired temp.

Yes follow the directions given to you per Rocksor and go ahead an gradually turn up temp. don't turn it up all the way just yet, maybe a degree per couple hours. you don't want to shock your fish. Good luck.

the treatment didn't work so would the temperature rise and salt kill it off
