SETUP: March 2015

TANK: 165x50x50 cm (65x20x20 inch) = 400lts (105 US - 88 UK Galons) - 10mm glass.

LIGHT: Odyssea Dual Pro - 6 hours daily with 1 x 60w at 6500k

CANISTERS: Fluval FX6 and JBL 1501

HEATERS: None

HARDSCAPE: 30kg black Hawaii Sand from Equo and some pieces of wood.

FISH:
- Couple of Gymnogeophagus Balzani
- 6 Gymnogeophagus Gymnogenys
- 5 Gymnogeophagus Meridionalis
- 10 Corydoras Paleatus
- 60 Tanicitys Albonoubes

PLANTS:
- Echinodorus Bleheri
- Anubias Barteri
- Microsorum Pteropus

WATER:
pH = 7.5
KH) = 5
GH) = 6
NH3) = 0
NO2) = 0
NO3 = Always below 20
Temperature: Around 16º celsius in the winter (from December to March) and about 26º at the summer peek in July/Augoust.

Thanks. All the species are still juveniles and they are slow growing species. So the colours and general look are still going to improve.

I specially like them because besides the cichlid behaviour similar to all south america cichlids the low cost on electricity due to no heating beeing necessary has decrease about 40€ a month on the bill.

I really like this tank. Easy maintenance and low cost because there's no heaters needed. But... there is always a but... Oscar fish and other large south American species are my passion... so maybe and I'm just talking to myself, maybe in a near future I'll return to hot waters and my passion.

If you like large cold water fish, try Crenicichla Vittata. They are rare though. Some other large fish capable of thriving in the 60F range
