Most of the LFS's round my way have a standard variety of fish they keep all the time, these include guppies, mollies and other standard community fish, certain cichlids (including oscars). They then also have occasional fish, examples are jags, green terrors. Others are rarer like syphilium. then there are the even rarer occasional fish which include hornet tilapia, arrowanas and piranhas. I hope this gives you an idea of stocking in my local LFS's
I can't get no sleep

My LFS has a pretty decent selection of fish considered 'specialty' fish--not what you'd regualrly see in a pet/fish store. Usually they'll have something 'odd' every few weeks.
Unfortunately today they had 2 beautiful oscars someone gave up, each one in a 30 galllon. I swear both were over 13 inches, and one possibly 14. Never seen ones that large in person, and I never thought they would get so large in captivity. The ones head was about 2 inches wide from the front with a deep, deep forehead 'bend.' The guys at the store dont really have anywhere else to put fish that large by themselves other than the 30 gallon quaratine tanks...at least they might give them a fighting chance.

HUGE, gorgeous fish...both with really, really advanced HITH. Big white pits (some larger than their eye socket) all around the face and extended far down the lateral lines.

I cant believe someone got the oscar to grow that big but was enough of an idiot to let them get HITH and let it progress that far. I swear I would consider smacking someone if I saw them bring those in like that. At least they gave them up I guess...

we are a third world place but have plenty of fish species around...
only few hobbyist are responsible fish keeper.. the rest don't give
a damn... they just throw away fishes whenever they feel they don't
like it anymore... i can't help but that is life here... fishes are
very cheap....

Hi,
We had some small gourami in our community tank. But they died after maybe 2 or 3 moth. Some other lfs-owner told us that the guoramies you find here in holland are weak and mostly babys from the same family all the time. Like sister and brother or even grandpa .

I really liked those fish but it made me think twice. So now i'm waiting for my other comunity tank fish to get old and die so i can make a totaly other tank out of it.

Fish with compatability with the xingu and the sturisoma and the other pleco ;P
