possibly hopfully maybe....kinda 1 year, 8 months ago #111431

Okay so we go to the pet store today to get food for my dog and i wander into the fish section like allways to do my walkthrough and i wonder into the fish tank section. Thats when it hit me....DAMN A 29 gallon standard tank looked way bigger than i thought....My desk which is the only other place in my small room would be jusst like terribly huge for such a small desk and a small room. So i have yet to tell my mom about my idea of getting another tank, being the fact my mom is rational i think she will say when the oscar gets bigger you can get another tank. I hope she dosent say that though. Any way back to my real issue is a 20 gallon standard tank good for any of oscars friends? Or will i need to push for a miricle with a bigger tank?

what were the tankmates and what size were they?

My other tankmates are a Red blood parrot which i sware is wider than long lol (jk) and he is about 5 inches, i think he is fully grown even though they get up to 8 inches. And i have a OB peacock 4.5 maybe five inches, ive never gotten the ruller close enough to mesure him though.

I don't know about the OB peacock, but i did some reading on them and it seems to be a pretty controversial hybrid.
But i read it maxes out at 6 " ,so i'd say a 20Gl is not too big for him.
Actually it's pretty small.
But with good filtration and enough waterchanges it could work.
But i don't know this fish , nor it's behaviour, so i could be wrong.

Any action, Matt, to get your bioload in your "big" tank down is to be applaused.

I wouldnt say im aganst hybrids but id rather not get them although two of my three fish are hybrids lol. I didnt know they were hybrids at the time, but my OB is really calm although he can kick ass if he wants. When i bout him i went to the guys basement and he was just chilln. His colars are AMAZING! you will never see another fish with so many colars. So i also did resherch and it says that a 30 would work well for both the OB and Blood parrot.
