TOPIC: Blood Parrots diet

Blood Parrots diet 1 year, 8 months ago #111607

I now just realized i only feed my blood parrot shrimp pellets, Im not sure if thats the best staple diet for him either. Let me explain the reason for this, My oscar isnt tooooo agressive but when it comes to food no one gets in his way....so my blood parrot cant pop his head up without getting pushed out of the way. So a while ago i observed this and decided ill drop in some sinking shrimp pellets just incase he dosent get enough hikari pellets. So now he lives on shrimp pellets, if those arent the best diet for him i can figure out a way to get my oscar away from the BP while he gets his fill on the hikari which i know and trust as a good staple diet.

You can buy Hakari in sinking pellets, and a smaller size as BP's have such small mouths...

IMO this would be far better for him.

Then you can still feed your Oscar floating pellets, and your BP will get food too!

Nutrition is a VERY important part of keeping any Animal... But you can buy regular Hikari in sinking pellets.. I get them at Petsmart... And they are the same price as Floating Hakari.

My blood parrot eats the mini-sized hikari cichlid gold pellets and frozen food (brine shrimp, krill, blood worms) all from hikari also.

He is quite happy.

lol because they have such a small mouth he can only eat half the stuff i through in for feading time. ocasionally he will get a hikari pellet in if the oscar backs his guard down. But are the shrimp pellets even nutritous for him?
