P.s. The smaller male "newcomer" was removed and put in a safer tank after this scuffle

Im pretty sure they were both males... The smaller one definitely is, He has small branches on his bristles. The Larger one on the other hand doesnt have the same "branching" what do you guys reckon?. Sorry Im bad at photos...

yo, matt, that was a bit rough.
but keep in mind, even plecos have to decide on a pecking order.
and their armour makes it very hard to hurt anyone of their own species.
Some battle is normal, upto a certain point.
The nearly one foot plecos fought a tough battle, but the biggest won, and nowadays will "allow" the smaller one into his territory.
if you have enough room, to rehome, imo that's a safe bet.

on the other hand, usually the fighting stops after some time, and they will have decided who's boss.
i allways have one more cave then the number of plecos i have in a tank.
2 plecos means at least 3 caves.
Just beware, if they are sucking on and attacking eachothers bellies, their only weak spot, they should be seperated.
Did you plan on keeping them apart for good?

Wow thanks for the quick reply. Yeah I will be keeping them apart, Because I have enough tanks not nearly enough BN's for them all anyway lol. What do you reckon about the pics? Is that just a "weeny" looking male or is it posibly female? The smaller one had a slight branching to the bristles, and is clearly a male. I may put them back together if male and female

the braches or antennas on the Ancistrus dolichopterus Males are more developed and are looking more like antlers , indeed and is the biggest difference .
so that will be pretty obvious, if they grow a bit more!
any chance of getting some females added to the tank?
i know they're pretty easy to breed, that is. if they're in a single-species tank..
Are they?

No there is not 1 tank that is single species. I have a guppy tank, a turtle tank, an oscar tank. I also have several smaller tanks I use for Q/hospital/fry raising tanks. I have a few smaller BN's that still have some growing to do. I do plan on putting a female in there with him.
