i have not kept them, but it seems to me that living in Australia means you are totally screwed if it comes to prices of fish!
I hope i didn't use rude language to state my case.

They seem to charge stupid ammounts of money to Aussies for fish that are really not that expensive where i live.
surely they're nice fish, but really not worth that much money, imo.

I nearly brought one of these from dobbies for £30 but they told me they grow up to 4foot, (it was say 20cm at time) and it will eat anything that fits in it's mouth and so i decided against it. I explained I had a stripy dora and they happened to have one hidden in one of their tanks and so I didn't leave empty handed.

I'm pretty sure its the same catfish; if I new they went for that kinda money I should have brought it. I can always get another tank. Doh

That's what we call a 'Monkey-sandwich-tale" in Holland...
synodontis catfish is a large family, but the biggest grow upto 2 feet at max size, but the one we are discussing will max out at 6 inch...

Not that it's a bad idea to get fish that grow large, just to have an excuse to upgrade to a bigger tank.

oh well I didnt want it to eat my fish and I didn't feel confident in the man selling it as he was unsure and had to keep checking in folders and asking other colleagues. It might not have been same catfish but Im sure it was labelled as a cuckoo. If you really want one you will have to search around and just be patient.
