I just noticed there was a forum to talk about other types of fish.
I have four other tanks besides my oscars. my other tanks include: rainbow fish, angel fish, knife fish, silver dollars, three very very very large fantail goldfish, four 10inch draqon bichirs, and four peacock/fire eels. All of which, i am proud to say, were rescued. maybe some day i'll actually attempt to find new homes for some of them?...but probably not : )
you could say that my house is becoming some sort of aquarium? considering there is a fish tank in every room except the bedrooms!

hurrah! would you believe i was able to raised a fantail
goldfish for 5 years in a 30 gal tank. it grows bigger than
my fist. i lost it when we were hit by strong storm in 2006.
today i have new 8 pcs fantail gf again in the same tank.

goldfish, when given the time of day, grow huge! my fish:hikkari, bikkari &goldie(yes cliche') are over 12 inches and their all fantails, i have them in a 55 gallon. thats too bad that your goldfish died, i have read that they grow their whole lives!

is that body size or head tip to tail tip?
my fantail that grew fist size had a very long tails and fin.
if i had measured the length head to tail tip, perhaps it would
go beyond my 12 inches long.

yeah, i measured them from tip of their nose to tip of their tails. their bodies are roughly eight-9 inches with the tails adding another 4 or 5 inches to that.
