Its possible for them to live a longer life, but 90% dont live over 3 years, i have seen some full grown ones but their rare, so if your thinking about a JD, your better to go with the original,
i was going to buy a blue but after speaking with biggamehunter, i changed my mind, trust me mate, its not worth the buy.
hope you pick the right choice
2 Tiger Oscars, 1 Lutino Oscar, 1 Jack Dempsey, 3 Clown Loaches, 1 Blue Phantom Pleco.

If cared for properly, they can live as long as a normal JD, and they will be much better looking. However, they are much more frail and prone to bad water conditions, so if your water isn't superb, they will die.

90% die before 3 years even if cared for properly ....i have done a lot of research on the ebjd and they do not live as long and as i say only 10% of fish make it past the 3year mark even if cared for properly

I have kept and bred EBJD, GD, JD, and BJD. The only kicker with EBJD is there frailness. They are also prone to starvation, since they often struggle to get food in crowded tanks. Anyways, they can and will reach 8 inches in a suitable environment. However, I have noticed a few youngsters die for unknown reasons at 1-3 inches, but definitely not 90%. Anyways, they are harder to keep then JD, but not impossible
