TOPIC: Setting up a new tetra tank.

Setting up a new tetra tank. 3 years, 2 months ago #24908

My Oscars just graduated from their 35 gallon tank, so I've decided to use that tank for tetras. I was planing on a dark sand bottom, some plants, and plenty of hiding places. I figured on somewhere between 6 and 10 tetras. Also some ghost shrimp and a snail(apple most likely). Does anyone have anything to add or some advice on this. Or know of any other cool tank mates?

Thanks

since you are set for tetras and shrimp with some snails,
i believe that would be great. in my case, i prefer to have
fan tail gold fish. i love watching them picking, sucking ,
and spitting the gravel inside the tank like a small chicks

The reason I decided on tetras is because I've always had larger fish and like the idea of watching the little ones in their shols. I want something completely different from my Oscars. Anything but Oscars and goldfish are new for me. I wanted some variety in the tank so I went with the tetras, ghost shrimp, and a snail. If anyone has some other variety ideas or thoughts about how these three will get along I would be helpful.

Thanks =D

tetras are nice little fish, in my smaller tanks i keep alot of smaller fish, guppies and harlequin rasbora are also very nice to watch, the good thing about the rasbora is when they have settled in to their tank there colour changed completely from a dul grey to a bright pinkish red

hope it helps, good look with your new fish, let us know what you settle on!

What kind of tetra were ya thinking? I reckon some congos or bleeding hearts would be nice. Or, even better yet, mexican blind cave tetras

Ok, I got ten neon tetras and five glow lights (five was all they had). I also got four ghost shrimp and a snail. The tank looks great and I'm planning on getting some more in a few weeks

i love watching my neons swimming around... i had 10 in my 36 gallon until my girlfriend brought home this damn albino frog without consulting me. now there are only 5 remaining:angry:
i wonder if the oscars would like frog legs...
Please, for my sake, change your oil!
