Is this the one w/ the Bumblebees? That would explain it....... B) They'll gobble them up like candy. If you want to save the spawn, either remove the eggs or the cats....but if not, you'll just have some "fat cats"!!!

Yeah it's the same tank. I'm not going to do anything special I'm going to let nature take its course if we end up with fry then it was meant to happen.

OK, sounds like a plan...but if you want fry, just leave the light on for a while...the parents will defend the fry (IF they aren't the ones eating the eggs!!LOL)...really cool to see. B)

Well, they are cichlids in good standing.....do a decent WC (I wouldn't do more than 15% @ a time, they are sensitive to large scale WC's), & maybe feed them some live brine shrimp to condition them.....I would say inside of 2 weeks......if possible , put an old HOB like a Tetra Whisper or something along that line, & put Fluval peat pellets in the filter bag to soften the water & drop the PH a bit (you can get peat from a graden center, but I prefer the pellets, the bagged stuff is cheaper but it's a MESS :pinch: ).....you don't need much, maybe, 1/2 way on each bag, unless your tap is like Rift Lake water....unless it's already soft & acidic? But anyway, the fry will appreciate the "blackwater", & some say you may need it for eggs to hatch....not my experience w/ GBR fry, they do fine in neutral IME, but other dwarf cichlids, like some other Apistos, yes indeed....but it definitely won't hurt to do so.

I'm gonna start this w/ my baby Oscar this weekend, I had about a 1/4 carton of the peat pellets laying around, my LFS has them, I'm gonna fill up both filter bags w/ the pellets.....I did this when I bred Oscars, they THRIVED in "blackwater". The colors they display after a while in BW are amazing....you can use that Tetra BW Tonic too, works well, but that's not cost effective.

Yup, on board w/ tehmole's statement.....& they are usually free-swimming by day 5 or so.

But if you want them to make it, you know what you have to do, R....& getting those BB cats out is no picnic!!!
