Nyx created the topic: Seeking good reading materials

Hello all! Recently I've been looking through some fish books on amazon and have found a few that sound very interesting. While there are countless websites with good fish information on them I'm old fashioned and enjoy reading actual books/magazines. So my question for you all is what are your recommendations? I've been reading some TFH magazines a coworker has been lending me but I would like some different stuff.

I'm interested in books on cichlids, tropical community fish, fish diseases/ treatments, etc. o let me know what your go to books/magazines are if you have one. I'll probably post some books I've had my eye on as well.

I always recommend the 1st one......IMO, it's a "must-have" for anyone who wants to keep cichlids.

Loiselle & Axelrod are 2 of the best.

Look for books by Don Conkel also.

Here is one I also own:

"The Manual of Tank Busters" by Sandford & Crow

You can really never go wrong reading literature written by someone who has species of fish named after them (1st two books). B)

I wish more people read about the hobby......that, coupled w/ actually putting what you learned into practice, is key for success.

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

Cool I'll have to order those two for sure. As for the 3rd one I posted I would like to find a good 'encyclopedia' type book of illness' and treatments. So I'll do what you recommend and search for books by the authors you suggested as oppose to just by topics. Thanks for your imput!

Thanks Rocksor I book marked that one for later. B)

Also thanks to Ben, I am a fan of that magazine and I would really like a subscription but $80 a year is a little high for me. Even the e-subscription is $50 and I'd prefer a hard copy anyway. But I am often browsing that website
