ehh created the topic: New fish ideas

So since my little Jack Dempsey I've been trying to find at least one more fish to add to my new tank.
The main concern in my tank are my ruby barbs. I've decided I don't want any cichlids because I feel I may put my barbs at risk by adding cichlids.
Originally I was thinking a South American leaf fish, I read they're pretty hard to get off of live foods.
Then I was thinking a leopard Ctenopoma. But I read they can get 6" and my barbs may eventually be snacks. :-/
Any ideas?

I like both of those species but they get a big for what I wanted. I supposed I should've been more specific about size. I forgot earth eaters. I'll look into some of the smaller species.

I wasn't looking for something for something too hard to acquire either. My lfs has both of the fish I first mentioned which is why they were on my possible list.

I've really been considering adding a school on bottom guys like cories or loaches. Oh those paradise fish are really cool. I'm gonna do some reading on them.

Thanks darth, I wasn't really looking for another school group. Those congo tetras are really cool though.

Daddadoo I'm fairly certain a rope fish will eat my barbs lol
