Throughout my 45yrs in the hobby, I have always had an Oscar in the mix, and will have until I exit the hobby. For an empty tank in the 75 range, I must vote for one of my recent acquisitions.. female Festae. Much patience needed to deal with the shyness and hiding while growing up, but the most gorgeous cichlid in the hobby when mature imo.

I may not be the Boss, but I'm ALWAYS right!

Not done with her yet... but just getting to the point where money on this one fish is getting to be out of hand. May have to let Shawn take a whack at it. I will wait till after my vacation, when Im back in the middle of March or so before I decide what to do.

Agreed that female festae are pretty awesome. They can put some of the salt water fish to shame!

Agreed there, took me about 2yrs to get the real deal. Saw plenty of claimed Festae that were far from it.

Once I finished mourning? Another O. But they've been my dream fish for years.

I am looking into getting a Green Terror at some point, but not 100%. Might find something I like more.

Keeper of the Food Pellets of Malekith the Never Accursed, Lover of Bubbles and Airstones, and Beloved of the Rogue Violetta.

Throw yourself in- use the wrong words, try different foods, kiss random fish. It's an adventure!

Do you mean hybrids or just really bad quality Festaes?
