sonuolover created the topic: CARP CROSSBREEDING

Few months ago i have noticed some eggs stuck with the roots of water lettuce in my carp tank. That tank having 1 orange carp, 1 milky white koi carp (veiltail) & a crucian carp (veiltail). So its a clear case of crossbreeding. unfortunately it happened in very wrong season (winter) but i somehow managed to put them in high temperature & a few eggs hatched. now i have 20 little carps. some completely yellow, some dark golden like crucian & some having mix colour yellow & golden. 30% babies are veiltail. it seems all 3 fishes are involved in spawning. you can see one of the veiltail in this image:-

Now the question is, why they spawned in wrong conditions & can a mixbreed or crossbreed produce healthy babies?

If someone having experience in carp breeding & caring, please tell me what you think about this & what to do next.....

cross breeding can always be done in koi/carp... either naturally or hand spawning...
that is also true with the flowerhorn...
unfortunately... we do not encourage crossbreeding / hybreeding!
