dont know, but here in Holland we got Polish guys ans other eastern europe visitor, coming to catch our carp and build a BBQ at the same time!
If anyone of my fellowcarplovers sees anybody doing this, its gonna be a hell of a discussion!
In vietnam i know they sell them for food onmarkets.
They keep them in those baby-swimmingpools!

Carp are worshipped in the UK and you are probably get lynched if you killed one.
However, they are farmed for the table and you can buy them in certain places, I've seen them at Billingsgate market. I once saw the guy who presents "Return to the River Cottage" catching carp in the Thames. He then put in the engine of his Land Rover and cooked it whilst he was driving, apparently said it tasted okay.
The Poles love eating carp, in fact most of their fishing lakes have been emptied because people have caught them and taken them home for the table.
Recently some Polish people moved in next door to me, I've never known people to have so many barbecues, even in the winter, and when it's pouring down with rain. It seems they'll eat anything, I've seen some really strange things being prepared.

in asia, carp is being culture as food fish in commercial level.
it compete with tilapia which thrive in low quality water and
grow fast. they were raise either in cage or pond.

I can honestly say I have tried smoked carp, and wouldn't you know it wasn't half bad. It actually reminded me of baked ham in flavor but with a fishy texture. Would give it another go if I ever had the chance to eat it again.

Im a carp fisherman and have been for years, i love a good old day at the ponds when its nice and hot.
NO carp do not get here in london uk, there some foreign people that probably eat them but no english people do.
if you caught damaging or killing a carp while fishing here in england you'll be arrested. they are pond fish and have been for so many years.

If somebody is seen killing one of our dutch carp, as we say:
Eerst even kletsen en dan even praten!
It means at first some slapping, and then some more talking.
Note, "kletsen" is the same word for talking to someone and slapping someone.
If a carp is 15 Kilos they may well be over 30 years of age!
And then they taste muddy and old.
There are far better fish to eat!

thanks for all the info.
i think the reason carp are killed here is because they are "taking over the place" lol
i might look this up some more but i think the are an introduced species that are killing our native ones.
thanks again for the input
