So far this week in my 60 gallon community tank, i have lost:
1 orange headed angel fish
5 neon tetras
1 glowlight tetra
1 male cherry barb

I don't know if there is a common factor,
the angel fish was swimming upside down all over the place, running into stuff.
the neons i just found dead
the cherry barb i just found dead, but he looked bloated.

Now i am afraid i am about to lose my other angel fish, and another cherry barb
the angel's mouth looks like it is stuck open, and it's gills flared.
the cherry barb has a red splotch on it's side.

any ideas??

this afternoon, before a 50% water change, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate was like 50 or 60! i did 50% change exactly one week ago as well.
I think i have been feeding too much

that an aqueon hang on the back style filter????

my buddy james had one of those on his 30 gallon tank... till it fried his fish... the pump is below the water level inside the tank... all it takes is for it to leak at that seal at the bottom.

also i dont like the way the impeller is attatched to the motor in those... its like it directly engages with it... i like the aquatech ones, they use a magnetic drive... no leaks. ever. the motor is totally sealed off and seperate from where the water goes.

High nitrates are the most probable cause. Keep doing some extra water changes until you get your nitrates down. Hopefully your fish will start to get better. Check your tank thoroughly for any dead fish you may have missed, as a dead one will foul your water double quick

i came in today, and turned on the light. the angel fish was laying upside down, saw the lights on, then starting swimming around upside down and finally righted itself?

could it possibly be bloat?
the angels stomach looks swollen, and the cherry barb i pulled out yesterday was really "bloated" looking, but not floating

hi Travis, angel fish is probably having too much fat in its belly.
i have lost my 2 year old angel fish and the breeder told me to open
it to find out why. when we do it, yes, its true, all its internal organ
were coated with fats and fats make them fail.

as to your other fishes, have you check the tank against power leak?
those blood clot is one symptom of power leak problem although there
are some bacterial infection having the same symptoms.
