i am trying to figure out what fishes we have and what other people called them.
gourami for one, is very expensive in some place.... here, people do not mind it.
i became curious when Dalton show one kind of fish but to us, it is just one
swamp fish that doesn't need caring but taste very good.

i came to this fish which is very common to us but we do not eat coz very spiny
and taste murky. we called it martaniko, and upon googgling, i found out it is
called climbing perch. what do you call this fish in your place?

Klim-baars, which is a literal translation of climbing perch.
now look what i found, this is how you pronounce it in Dutch:

forvo.com/word/klimbaars/

It's gotten that name because it's even found high up in trees.
They are sold by the name of Anabas too
