I like ém, but I know i'm gonna need another one species tank.
I'd love to have a black monster Rhom and fill the tank with a school of neons.
They actually go good together and it's fun to watch a big Piranha with all those small fish schooling with him.
Or for schooling P's I'd get some Serrasalmus serrulatus.
Here's a nice page full of fish with teeth!

But I got some other fish and tanks higher on my wishlist .

I have never had piranha , never even seen them for sale anywhere near where I live. I don't think they are a particular popular fish due to the reputation they have. I think most people think that if you stick your hand in to a tank full of piranha and they will eat half your hand within a few seconds which is obviously an urban myth unless of course you have an open wound.
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss

My silver dollars are showing Piranha like behaviour since they started to steal the feeder fish from my Gar.
They school up and rip the fish apart.
You can see they're close relatives and people allways ask if mine are Piranha's.

I was going to get red bellied piranhas last year. Joined a piranha forum and decided against it. The main reason being that I didn't want to buy a shoal of fish that may then eat a good number of its own shoal and according to piranha owners themselves they're quite boring fish.

I decided to go for snakeheads (channa) instead. I sold those this year grown on to get the Oscar and her tank mates.

in most cases, pacu, and SD are always mistaken for piranha. they resembles
in features and attitude. i almost got a piranha before but my disappointment
with pleco in my place make me backout. i do not want to patronize something
that would endanger our ecosystem. i got pacu instead and make money out of it
when my friend bought the whole set up including the fish, a 16 inches pacu.

unfortunately, the fish died later due to wrong fish keeping habits.

what do you guys think about piranhas?

I love them thats why I keep them

if you like them?why or why not

They interest me. Some can have quite the personalities, others can be quite boring. My Serrasalmus Geryi has a relationship with one of my dogs. Any other of my dogs can walk by the tank and he stays where he is carefully watching but as soon as my female Mya walks by he swims up front an attacks the glass while she is attacking from the other side. Its a hoot to watch

any particular type you like?

I prefer the Serrasalmus species personally, I like the rare varieties such as the Geryi or Altuvei. I also like the Rhombeus, there is nothing like a 15+ inch nasty Rhom

most agrresive?

Again this depends on each fish. The Elongatus has a pretty nasty temperament as well as the Manueli, I have also had aggressive Spilos and Pygos

least agrresive?

Pygocentrus nattereri (Redbellies) for sure. They are the most skittish fish I have ever kept

fav to own?

My Geryi

least fav to own?

My Reds

best to live with?

Confused by this question. If you are asking best to shoal then the answer is very simple. You can shoal any of the Pygos with one another (Terns, Redbellies, Piraya and Cariba) The only Serrasalmus species that can shoal together is S. Geryi and even then you are taking a chance.

ones that school?

Answered above

also the elongatus piranha?

Cool fish to own

thanks in advance

No problem If you have any other questions please feel free to msg me anytime. I have been keeping these fish for quite sometime. They are always my first choice.

Noddy... The Black Rhom in those videos is approx. 15-20yrs old. They are extremely slow growers averaging approx. 4-6inches in their first year and only 1/2" if that every year after. I would love to have a monster like that but they come with HUGE price tags.

why should get a huge one where you can raise it by yourself from a fingerlings.
a 2 inches size of that fish will cost you 20 cents i my place.

this pangasius (IDS) cost me 15 cents each when i got them

20 cents!! Ship em on over Paul! I got my guy at 2 inches for $50. I have had him for almost a year and he is now approx. 6 inches. I plan on keeping him for quite sometime. It will be neat to see wha size he is in 10 years. I feed all my Piranhas non live foods such as raw shrimp, tilapia, smelt.
