You should have read the website a little more carefully, it clearly states that plants & Oscars don't mix

I made the same mistake myself some time back. I got plant food, plants, lights all of no use.))) it lasted a few wks. I tried fake plants they moved them to silly places like on the heater, top of a rock and it looked so naff i removed them too. now I have a few BIG rocks and bog wood. move them mothers )))))

ive been keepin oscars for about 5 years now but i keep finding myself buying plants,
i did find java worked well as its very bitter altho it was cabble tied round a rock its now been moved as i think thats there flat stone to lay on,
ive got one bit of bog would and done the large rock thing but it was a bit of a pain to clean,
mite sound funny but i saw a film and it had a big fish tank with bamboo pole about 4inches round going from the bottom of the tank right to the top, that look cool so i think i mite try that
ps patant pending!!

Well I've had thriving plants in my tank for about six months now, but I don't expect it to last.
All I can say is get something with BIG leaves, and solid roots that can anchor themselves, and then don't move them around.
I made the mistake of moving a plant, and that plant gets pulled out constantly since it doesn't get a chance to root nicely.
I'm of the opinion that Oscars don't actually want to eat the plants, it's the trauma from getting pulled out all the time that kills them.

I got fed up with the mess getting caught up around the roots.
Made maintenance a pain but my fish solved the plant problem for me.
Last time i got a plant was a huge 25 Euro motherplant.
The guys at the LFS said it was a extremely hard leaved, bitter tasting plant that my fish would never eat.
Next morning it wasn't eaten.
It was ripped to shreds and totally destroyed...
Now they have some fake hanging plants, and that's it.

thanks for that, mmade me think twice, to be honest i just bought it from a garden center, sawed it up and sillicond it down to little flat stones,
i cant see any film in it and it is waterloged(it was kept outside)
when it says 1cm think, is that the total thickness or the thinkness of the bamboo, bomboo is hollow so theres a bit of a differance
