Hey Noddy, remember your posting here sometime ago???
www.oscarfishlover.com/oscar-fish-advice...n-zoo-arapaima#59333

well, yesterday, i decided to joint with the educational field trip of my
grand daughter to that place to see what in there.... the place do have plenty
of good learning materials for kids.... and for adults too.... you know what i've got?
here they are: the pond where those arapaima breed.

the pond where the yearlings thrive:

the pond is not that clear since it is a soil bottom while the yearlings ponds
had a lot of duckweeds. yearling needs those duckweeds as another source of food.
and i found these two deformed lutino which break my hearth. they are not kept
in good tank condition.

Very, very nice.
Just bear in mind that i never saw these fish in real life.
They are amazing!
I bet my family would have had a hard time getting me away from those ponds.
The yearlings allready look big!
i'm impressed.
You surely remember this favorite of mine.
River Monsters "How to catch an arapaima" episode.

As slow moving and carefull these giants are, when in distress so incredibly powerfull and fast!
Thanx for sharing.
Make sure we plan a day there when i finally come to the Philipinians.

as indicated at the top of the picture, two deformed lutino that breaks my heart.
i had check the filtering system, it seems they do not have proper training
on handling such kind of fish.

even this one which i don't know what kind of fish, the tank is so filthy.

Looks a bit like Armatus Hydrolicus to me.

but i'm not sure about the mouth.
I guess it comes with the hobby.
You go to see fish, only to find some fish that live in horrible conditions and are used as show specimen.
Same goes with visiting an LFS.
They can have beautifull fish, but if something is wrong due to bad livingconditions, that memory will stay in your mind.
Not the beautifull fish...

all i need is their confirmation letter that they are accepting my offer to help.

installed in there....

yes indeed, they are gentle but powerful and fast when excited. during feeding
time, you could get enough splashing...
Thanx for sharing.
Make sure we plan a day there when i finally come to the Philipinians.

just in case you do have plan, please let me know....

and yes, those yearlings are already more than two feet long....
i was informed that most arapaima in the philippines comes from avilon
including those in our Manila Ocean Park. the only setback of going in there
is the traffic along the way plus, you have to pass our dump site for garbage.
very disappointing..... but all difficulty is worth seeing the place...

the sad new was...avilon lost its 7 footer full grown male arapaima a few
months ago. when i ask if there was any report from the in-house veterinarian,
the informant move away from me...
