from what ive read no less than 180gallons per one jardini. silver and black arowana require larger tanks.

based on some write up, aro need more on lateral surface area to swim with, not the
volume. a wider but shallow tank is better than a narrow but deep tank. aro mind
surface to swim to and never mind anything below the tank.

but aro is a good scavenger too...it can scoop any shrimp at the bottom of the
tank and good also in scooping anything that drops on the water surface on top.
and i was surprised it scoop the shrimp sideway...

Ok, so the jardini would need a long and wide as possible but only about a foot high?

length and width are the priority

least 6 feet long and 4 feet wide so they can turn around.

I got this info at MFK:

The minimum tank size for a silver IMO is an 8'x2'x2'....Although if you could provide a tank with 30" width it would benifit the fish GREATLY.

These are the sizes I beleive are minimum...however...there are plenty of other hobbyists that keep arowanas in 6x2x2 and seem to have no problems.

You would have a better chance keeping a jardini in a 6x2x2. They do not get as big as silvers, however they are also not as flexible so keep that in mind.

Hope that helps.
A tank the size you say will def do for some years.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

funny you say that, i know a guy with an 8x2x2 that wants an aro its a shame the same guy read they dont get along so well with oscars. the same fellow also is curious as to how much less agressive silvers are than jardini as noted in many online references.

is it 2ft wide or 1.5ft wide? the jardini needs alot of room to turn, i wouldnt keep it in less than 2ft front to back.
