Ok...well since the trade for the 210 gallon didn't pan out and I found a buyer for my 300 gallon (i know...I miss it too) I am going to setup one of the 55 gallons in my fish room. Figure it would be cheaper for now and i'm just gonna save up for a larger tank to get towards the end of the year...that way i can at least get exactly what I want and be happy.

Anyway...I need some ideas for my 55 gallon tank...so let me have it! haha!

So far i was thinking of a few options:

-cichlids
-planted tank with puffers (or other fish)
-something with a blue lobster (crayfish basically...love these guys)

Obviously I need ideas! haha! Oh, and how large of a tank do parrot fish need? Don't really know how big they get but my wife loves them...figured maybe i'd get one for her if they would do ok in a 55...otherwise she'll have to wait! haha!

you could have an armoured cat like I posted in your cat thread. they are small enough to have other fish with them. and as you like cats a reasonable choice? I am finding it hard to keep up with your life and tanks.)))))

lol, they had the Hoplo cats at the LFS last time i went there.
My wife asked what they we're and i told her, that these were the ones Marcus was talking about.
They were tiny, but sweet.

Usually it the point where you start selling your furniture to make room for more tanks.
Last Xmas my wife wanted to get a xmas tree and i asked her, where will you put it.
It kinda full in here, i said.
She aswered, well, we can allways kill your birds and put the tree over there...

lol, the tree ended up in the middle of the room, in front of my 90Gl tank.
And it was gone before new years eve...

ryan since i got the oscar out of my 55... i can have plants that grow bigger than a half inch long now... lol... im finding plants are quite beautiful in the 55 by my comp, i spend all day lookin at it. maybe a mildy planted tank with a small catfish and maybe 1 female convict or maybe even a community tank. i keep having these predator tanks that are basically x amount of water for 1 fish... i keep thinking about doing some "amature species" just for the extra movement that a school provides. when JD and bichir are big enough for the 55, im putting something that schools, ands stays small in there!(and also wont eat my plants up)

I'm kind of thinking of doing a mildly planted tank like Win suggested and maybe a catfish like Marcus and Noddy suggested...I'm still kind of thinking of getting a Jaguar Catfish if I can find one...they get about 8" from what ive read so it should be big enough for one of the Jaguars I would think. Just thinking of what other fish I could get in there as well. I went to planet catfish and they said the Jaguar is pretty docile with tankmates...just like to protect its hiding places.

So what are some fish ideas other than a catfish? I do like how Win put it...instead of big predator fish i'm mainly looking for more of a community tank with some movement to it...should look kinda cool!

And yes i'm going to slow down a little here haha! It'll be easier for you guys to at least keep up with what tanks I have now! haha!

here you got the agamixis and platydoras. that i like very much and stay smaller.
But they look just as monster as their bigger familymembers.

i do not know the availability of those fish around your place.
Here they are pretty rare...

Thanks noddy...I know i've seen the platydoras around here but not sure about the other one...looks cool though! I'll have to take a closer look at the LFS's around here and see if anyone has them.

Ryan, depending on what you are looking for, I am in love with Africans, they create a bright active tank, and you can have quite a few in a 55... You could also do dwarf cichlids, I love the Kribensis, and the Blue German rams.

And I keep several Cats in with my Africans. If you need links, or Pics... I have them!
