in a few months im gonna have to move... i just dont want to have to start completely over... does anybody have any advice about moving tank and keeping the fish... and when i say move i mean 600 plus miles...

Is it warm there??? Are you running canisters?

Personally, i would make a portable tank out of a Rubbermaid Container. Run your filters on it, and a heater if needed. That is an awful long way.

im getting out of the military, im might be moving farther... im probally just gonna end up starting over.. but a fresh start might be fun right

thats what sucks... i got a friend with a shop but he doesnt really care.... i.e. oscar so;d with a bio bowl

i know moving my fish over such a distance would have me squeezing my buns together all the way.

i think if u can find a good home 4 yr fish a fresh start could be fun, but if ya do wanna keep them the move wouldnt be out the question just follow nikkisue's advice.

why not try some free ads in yr local paper or sumthing, see if there are any keen fellow oscar addicts near by who will adopt them?

Well, I moved 1500 miles with oscars, though they were only a few inches long. I put them in a large ice chest and kept them on the front seat of the U-haul truck. Ocationally I would blow air into the water, they kind of lay on their sides, I guess cause they can't see out, when I stopped at a hotel to sleep, just took them inside and hooked up a small pump to pump air in the water all night. Also, had a cat and dog, it was really fun packing in a litter box too, especially when hotel said "NO PETS" Just an idea!!

CRIMINAL????? Why? Just cause I took my pets in a hotel? Oh well, what they don't know, won't hurt them. At least nobody pooped on the floor. No more moving for me. I've lived in 10 out of 50 of these states, some more than once.I'll stay here with all my critters. (:>)--|<

iv moved once in my life....and that was one to many, far too stressful for me lol
