A 10 gallon aquarium is only big enough for a few very small community fish, the filters that come with those little tanks are just not capable of keeping up with anything more than just a few fish. I just don't see the point of putting any fish that is going to grow big in it when you know you're going to have to move them, you might as well put them in the big tank to start with. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if you are a little bit overstocked already, how big are the fish you have in there at the moment?

I have a "clown pleco" (Panaque Maccus) - they're quite common I think. Their max size is 3-4" so it maybe a good option for a small tank. A common pleco - definitely not..... they get HUGE. Other options for small tanks maybe cories; they stay pretty small too.

I have got a 20 gallon tank here and I think it's something like 3' x 12" x 12". I don't honestly think you need a fish to keep your tank clean of algae, it will take you about two minutes to wipe any algae off the glass.
As for a clown pleco, they require a tank of at least 30 gallons. Your tank is not big enough for any type of pleco at all

I'm afraid my knowledge about tropical community fish is not much. All I can say is that a 10 gallon tank cannot maintain more than just a few very small fish.
