HI i got back home this morning and some low life scum as broke im to my house stole tv dvd x boxs playstations etc etc the worst part is thay put a bottle of bleach in my 10ft tank killed my two large cats and smashed the braces on my 9ft tank
so i have a few things to ask
1i have had to put the follwing into a a6x2.5x2.5tank this is tempery till get in insurance sorted

1xjag 6"
1xlima snc 12"
2 plecs8"
1x black shark 6"
2x 6" talking cats
1x5"jd
i am running 2x fx5s of the 9ft tank 1 fluval 304 1 204 1 205 all cycled
2-the fx5s on 10ft have know got bleach in them will thay be of any use or do i bin them?
i have ad to put my 8" red devil in a4x2x2 wich i had to get this morning
will he be ok in this for a short wile running a fluval 205 that is all icould get to day as it cost me a small fortune this morning to try nd save my fish

soz for the long post butn i may have more to ask but i am very upset at moment

Christ, I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm not a religious person but I do believe in karma. These bad people will have to pay for their sins at some stage. No comfort to you though.

If the bleach has got into the filtration system then I would definitely start afresh, and they need to chuck the filters away, just get new media.

I think you're going to have to do your best to put the fish wherever you have space if that is the only place. Just keep an eye on the water conditions, sure they'll be okay in the short-term

thank you re the two fx5s with bleach if i bin all the media and if can run them for a few days with fresh water ie in a 5 gallon drum and keep changing the water do you think thay will be ok ?

can't stress how sorry i am for you. its unbelievable what some people would do.

you should get away with giving the inside of the filters a good wash out with fresh water. i don't think you will need to run them for any more than a few mins after washing them out. 3 or 4 very good rinse out should do the trick. and as ofl said the media will need replacing. best of luck and i hope the police catch them.

Another option I used is if you have an extra bath tub you can use that as a tank too. I have... Also the LARGE rubbermaid tubs work well too.

thankyou i will get round to rinseing the filters glad i aint got bin them as i spent thousands on my large tanks i cant understand why thay had to do that to my tanks i was only gone 2hrs my bad i left my two dogs outside a staffy and a american lab or it may have been another story if let them in wich is what i normally do sods law

my nine year old son dont know as he is at school he loved them fish
the rtc & tiger snc used to let him stroke them eat out of his hand he will be crying all night soz i am going to stop at mo getting upset again thanks peter

soz forgot to ask re my 10ft tank now it as bleach in it wot is best way to clean it or is it no good now due to the bleach it is insured but i was thinking if it is of any use now ie reptiles or can it it be cleand for fish if so what is best way as it ways a fair bit to move it & is there any members on here who live in midlands that now of any one that can fix my 9ft tank its just the braces that need doing thanks peter

Peter, Tear your 10 ft tank down, rinse, rinse, and rinse again... Let is air dry... If you have gravel, boil rinse, boil, rinse, boil. then reuse... If sand I would replace!!! But all in all the tank is still usable for your gilled children!

When you fill the tank again, I would double the dechlorinator just to be sure!!!

thanks nicki it as sand in it i wos going to bin it all but at mo i have to leave it all in place till insurance come and look thay said i can remove fish wich i have donr and buried them in garden my son has just got back from school and i cant stop him crying i wish i could get my hands on the scum soz if that is a bit strong but at moment thats the way i feel thanks again peter and family

why on earth would it even occur 2 any1 to bleach sum1's tank and reck the other?!?!?! some ppl's head r literally f*cked....
