I recently purchased some driftwood for my tank. Let me tell you, Oscars really love this stuff. They hide around it. Chase each other around it. It looks great. I highly recommend it.

driftwood is really good, ive got atleast 3 or 4 pieces but i stopped using it as my water was going brown, will activated carbon help stop this???? and another thing is you got too make sure that the wood is spotless and clean other wise the tannins in the wood will pollute the water,

the tanins in the wood is whats making your water go brown.tanins are not toxic to fish but can turn your water an unattractive colour. im actually in the process of making some driftwood now and will post a thread with pics when im completed

Just stick with the driftwood. Eventually the yellow goes, but it does take a while. Its the water changes that dilute it

I have two pieces of drift wood in my tank and one is large and the other is a smally med piece. If there is anyone in colorado there is a place called golden cichlid that sells the drift wood cheap i got my large piece for 20 bucks which is about 30 bucks cheaper than anyone else. The one thing on drift wood I have found keeping the water clear is to presoak the wood in your bath tub a couple of rinses in the tub and I had no prob and just a simple cleaning of the tub and everything went well
I have lost my mind be back when I find it, maybe.
