Well, as some of you know I've been battling a cloudy water issue for the last few weeks. I tried everything--my water parameters are just fine, and tried numerous 20-30% water changes, smaller/less feedings, cleaning the filters, adjusting filter flow, adding bacteria...the list goes on and on and on.

The thing is is that the tank looked fine from the front, but from the sides it was significantly cloudy, of the milky white variation...and pressing my nose up to the glass I noticed 'particles' floating around. Extremely frustrating as I was convinced I was doing everything right and still could NOT rid myself of the problem.

Anyways, I've tried numerous 'water clarifiers' in the past, before this last tough stretch with the cloudiness, and really didn't notice too much of a difference at all. I was determined not to add any chemicals to the water this time around but finally got fed up and out of exasperation went and bought ACUREL F at my LFS (as I had read/watched on the internet that it was highly recommended..although from my experience I was VERY skeptical).



Bottom line is that after adding it no more than 10 minutes later I noticed a significant difference. About an hour later even more. Finally after only about 4 hours my tank water is virtually spotless. No cloudiness WHATSOEVER, which is great because of how much irritation and effort trying and failing to rid my tank of the problem has been.

I highly, highly recommend this stuff if you end up with a similar issue.

I had the same problem once and it turned out to be a film on the inside of the side panels. Pissed me off as it took me like a week to figure it out!

Yeah, I wanted to make sure that everything was correct first before trying a water clarifier i.e.

Daily water changes
Water testing
Mechanical filtration cleaning/flow adjusting
less feeding

I wanted to exhaust every possible issue before trying a clarifier although I was pretty sure it wasnt a bacterial issue as it did not dissipate with frequent water changes, leading me to assume it was silt/sand/food i.e. 'non-living' particles that were not being filtered. Since the flocculent worked I assume I was correct.

Glad you got it worked out Johnny. Sometimes it seems that cloudiness blooms for no reason at all.
