Algae depends on several factors, The amount of direct sunlight, the amount of time your tank lights are on, the amount of nitrates you have present...

Just to name a few...

So as long as you are testing your water with a liquid test kit, and results are where they should be, then I wouldn't worry...

20 gallon is too small for 2 oscars

I have no idea why the water bill is so high

If i read this, it sounds like you have two oscars in a less than 20Gl tank and that spells trouble!
is that correct, or is this tank for your plants only?

if you were thinking of putting 2 O's in a 20Gl tank, you need not worry about what plants will be well suited for your oscars, for the plants will probably live longer than your oscars...:(
Please explain a bit more about your tank situation!

Not to sound harsh but I've read a couple of your other threads and it seems your not actually interested in taking any of the advice given to you on the forum. The fact is a 20 gal. tank is waaaaaaay too small to keep two healthy oscars. You should really bring them back to the LFS until you can afford the bigger tank you talked about. If not things are gonna get bad real quick for your fish.

As far as plants and oscars go, oscars in most cases will rearrange there habitat the way they want it and plants seem to be the first to go. See the link below

My experience has been if they can move it they will and if they cant they'll sure give it their best shot! I caught one of my oscars ramming a giant piece of driftwood! Id advise against plants cuz sooner or later you'll be taking them out....assuming your fish dont die...

Some people manage to keep plants with oscars but most dont. Feel free to try plants with oscars but dont be surprised if your oscars continually dig them up

I can't get no sleep
