I have always used larger rocks than most people would probably use. I also use rocks that are all different shapes and look different, and also throw (not literally throw but put) bigger rocks/petrified wood in my tank to give it a mor natural look and it does look "really" cool. are oscars able to move rocks 10x larger than pebble sized rocks?

depends on pebbles size.... but yes.... 10x pebbles size
can even be lifted by oscar. if you have no substrates, it
can break your bottom tank glass. if you will view my video
in "my albums" at photo & video, the slate as big as the oscar
can be move from one corner to the other.

what kind of rocks? i have lava rocks in my tank. the rocks are about 10x10 inches. no problem. lava rocks don't weigh as much as traditional rocks.
it's important to place the rocks directly on the bottom glass.

i think the oscar is quite capable of moving the lava rocks because i have a 250 gallon oscar tank and my oscars are moving the whole tank around

i use BLUE PENNANT stone.. all the houses up here by the pot noodle mines are made out of it !!!its everywhare here.. garden walls, houses garages, its out of the mountains, its a blue grey colour and very very hard ,and very very heavy!!!
a lump about 18"x4"x6" is twice, maybe three times as heavy as a piece of slate the same size and my O,S easily flip smaler pieces of it (4"x3"x2")and bigger!!!

i guess im lucky in my tanks. my oscars dont move the rocks at all just the substrate and the plants. i do have rather large pieces of rock from the stone here(its all precambrian rock) that weigh about 25 lbs each. just to be safe.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!
