UNC-CH created the topic: Root Tab schedule

I followed BK's advice and planted some root tabs in my flourite substrate last night. I read BK's great info on OFL under plants but didn't see anything about how often I should use the root tabs. They are the API brand and I planted 5 into the substrate of the 10 gallon tank (box recommended 6 tabs for a 10 gallon). They dissolve very fast ... a lot went into the water before I could stick them in the substrate. You can see the water is still cloudy in the picture.

How long before I need to add more root tabs and how many would you think? Thanks.

Forget the API ones they dissolve to fast to be used by root feeders, get these:
pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=271375637440

Place one per square feet of tank bottom, so id use 2 placed around the root feeding plants. They are good for 2 months

Also shove them deep you dont want them to get into the water column they will cause a huge algae outbreak

How deep is your substrate?
