My heavily planted Oscar tank ended up being lightly planted in a heartbeat.

The juvenile female "Flor" is behaving as most Oscars by chomping and uprooting everything.

I'm taking this with a big laugh. What a wild girl!

Of course I won't give up that easy. I'll try to figure her around so she allows me to keep plants in her house.

Good luck with that. I haven't had a Cichlid yet that didn't like to arrange their house to suit them. I don't care what lake or Continent they are from

I keep my pair of Severums (one Gold, one Green) with Black Amazon Swords, Vallisnera Americana, Anubias barteri, and a native round-shape single leaf per stem plant I haven't identified yet.

Although not cichlids, but famous for eating plants, my now adult Silver Dollars (17 of them, likely going to give 10 or 12 away) actually ignore plants (it was a hard work as they grew up).

My Convicts (2 pairs of paired-off Zebra, 4 juveniles Pink) let me know if a plant is not welcomed in their territory but are mostly easy with them.

My male Tiger Oscar, Luna actually learned to co-exist with them and I dare to say he seems to like plants.

The Firemouth pair seems not to bother at all with the plants, and my Kenyi behave in a similar way as Convicts with the sole exception that if they want a clay pot that has a plant in it... well that plant won't last there long (but they remove it without destroying it).

Now what Flor did was a classic reinforcement to the idea of Oscars = No Plants. Vallisnera Americana (the one that grows huge), Giant Hairgrass, two types of Swords: all chomped!

I replanted whatever was left of the main root system in another tanks. She has done her statement even with the Anubias... but most of those are still in the tank.

I'll take my time with her. She is eating from my hand already and fears no one (I believe she bosses Luna, the Oscar male too!). What a wild girl!
