so today i searched my local pet stores... nobody had java moss in a form i was expecting... what i did get was a java moss ball... the clerks called it a fake japanese moss ball... and i was like well hell i guess that will work... and mentioned id love to get ahold of a real japanese moss ball just to see what thats all about... and the guy was like well as it so happens, i have just recieved a shipment and havent made it to the tanks with them yet... so i got one of those as well.
the java moss ball is moss tied to a cottonball with fishing string lol... its rediculous. but java moss is java moss regardless of what its on. im going to tear it up and let it grow in my tank.
the japanese moss ball is about the size of a large lemon or smaller orange. and its quite pretty! im kinda impressed to be honest... its quite firm, nothing ilke i had expected it to be. the appearance of it is fine velvet.
im hoping that in a few months ill be able to reduce my water changes when this stuff gets established!
