Just upgraded to a new custom 120(4x2x2). Got 2 O's and a red tail shark. I think I need some live plants to bring it all together. I would like a full green background so that I can stagger some smaller plants, a few medium size rocks, and maybe a piece of driftwood in the middle of the tank. Any suggestions? What about transplanting wild freshwater plants? I live in southern louisiana and we have no shortage really beautiful plant life.

i have had absolutly no luck at all keeping live plants in either of my oscar tanks. for that matter even fake ones are usually floating around the tank within the hour. but if your determined to try live plants then there are a few different types that are fairly hardy and might survive in an oscar tank. the one that comes to mind is amazon swords. i know some people have had success with these.

im sure someone with more experience will chime in soon to give you more options.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

I have had no luck with plants (real or plastic) either. They always end up floating. So I stick to some rocks and driftwood
I can't get no sleep

I resolved to some hanging plants on one side of the tank.
My o ocassionally rips of a leaf but in general they survive!
Keeping live plants happy is a different game.
I quit with the live plants after I bought a 25 Euro Anubias and my fish destroyed it in one night!

wild plants will probably overgrow your tank
get fast growing plants so if they get hurt they can heal faster.
although i would hate to see fish fight, my oscar would kick your oscars ass!
