Dunno if this is the correct category for my thread. Anyway, i've got some fairly nasty algae going on. My plants are slowly being covered with a nasty, pernicious algae, not the easy normal algae that i can scrape off the glass, or rub off with my fingers, no, this is horrible neon coloured stuff and it's already mullered my lovely moss, it's also creeping along the substrate and i can't just agitate the substrate to get rid of it, it has to be physically removed along with the substrate it's attached to.
I get the feeling i might have to take out a flouro tube or reduce the amount of time the lights are on.
but i don't wanna.

Any other suggestions.

i would say do a good clean off and reduce your light time cause with my planted tank i have that prob right now cause of my stupid cat triggering the light to stay on for three days ugh but since plants are kinda hardy i have reduced the light time to 8 hrs to get the algae to slow down for my plecos to get a handle on it and once i see a good amount of head way made ill shift back to 10 hrs
I have lost my mind be back when I find it, maybe.

Its difficult to tell but it more than the algae thats grows on the glass. It could be a type of blanket weed. Best thing to do is to reduce the time your lights are on and remove all you can manually.

well, that is green algae that stick on the side of the glass wall. as delboybully
recommends, removed it manually... by just scrubbing the glass and let the filtering
system do the rest.
