well, right now, we have a small family gathering among all my staff and their family.
what a relief seeing all my staff and their respective family enjoying the festive mode
among each other. my secretary had organized a game parlor, a personalperformance to
entertain everybody..... what a good sight. if i can only hold such an activity for them
every now and then, i will.

I wish we had the old times festive spirit at work but thats lost...
We used to clean the whole workplace together on the last day before xmas.
Afterwards we'd eat together and have a tombola to exchange gifts.
But last year the new boss decided to skip the clean up day and the party.
This year he decided we had to work between xmas and new year.
This year the new boss dediced to threaten me with kickin me out, if i get sick as much as last year. :angry:
This year he planned a party for the jubilees, that's me and some other colleagues that have been with the company for over 10 years...
On the 30th of december.
But me and my colleaggues all took time of to spend with our familys at xmas.
So i guess the party is not gonna be any fun, without the jubilees.

I miss the old tradition, Xmas was a thing we would celebrate together at work, but not anymore.
Good to hear you are having a good time together, remember that's a good ending of the year, and it will provide a good start for the next one.

no, you are not ranting.... i'm here to listen...that is so true....
just remember, for every door that closes on us, there would be another to open.
for as long as we take care of our colleague... we will survive.... yeah..it is sad
to note that some managers forget their CSR (corporate social responsibility) but we,
who used to be the frontliner will always be around....

in my previous job, the management had instructed me to terminate all my staff...
since i can not do the task for no apparent reason.....i resigned.

As i was ranting the last time about missing the holiday spirit, and the clean up day.
Now let me tell you whet happened today.
After digging out my car of 12" of snow(....) i drove through slippery roads to get to work.
Arriving there, I had to open up the company, but could not get in to our parkinglot, due to the massive snow.
Some collegues got stuck immidiatly upon entering the terrain.
We cleaned the snow for several hours.
When i got into the company i had to start the 380V machine chamber and the compressors we need for pressured air and vacuum.
Upon entering the machine chamber water was pumping out of one of the waterlines.
It was frozen and broke and was gushing water up to 2,5 meters and had been running all weekend.I closed the valve but did not take the risk of starting the
380V.
One compressors oil was frozen at -2oC and did not work.
Cooler instalation was snowed over, and did not work.All
snow had to be swept of.
More and more cars got stuck and out forklift truck got stuck in the parkinglot.
Inside half of the light in one hall burned out completely .
After things were repaired, after7 hours, one of the relais in the vacuumsystem burned out and the whole company stopped at once.
Went home and had a very nice day!
It really seamed like the company, not the people, was saying;"Now who's
gonna work between Xmas and new years eve?"

And i still got my holiday cleaning day, that was full of
the Xmas spirit!
It was more than i could ask for, and strangely enough it
was one of the best and most relaxing days of 2009.

i know it is hard to really get to know people through a forum, but i can say one thing for sure. paul you are a good man, and we need more people in the world like you.

Hey Noddy sounds like you had one hell of a day there! Where I work we used to have our last day before our christmas break a day when we all brought in food and relaxed a little but now they basically tell us we can bring in food but only get an extra 5 minutes on our one break to eat then its back to work! Nice huh? Thats about all the christmas spirit the company i work for can muster up this year! Lets just say none of us really worked all that hard the last day!
