can you guys tell me how to tell the diference between a boy and a girl oscar?

Males and females look the same, there is no obvious way of telling until you get a pair breeding

I know stupid question for this thread...But ive had my O a few months now and every now and again i find white bubbly type of stuff around the top of the waterline on the tank. I know its not from my angels as this was happening before i put them in there. My O is approx 3 and a half inch long now. It does get a little tempermental with the other fish from time to time though. Could it mean i have a female by some fluke of a chance??? there isnt a rock or flat surface for it to do anything with as of yet... and it hasnt cleaned a spot at the bottom of the tank either... Any clue guys???

i concur with Nicki... no way that thing is related to a male
or female slime... maybe it is just an excess slime from
the fish scale.....
