Hey guys, you all seem to love the baby photos so every few days I will add some more footage, eventually their size will catch up to the capabilities of my crapy camera. They love their little plastic grass mat because it catches the food and they can go exploring for tucker through the day. The bigger ones can handle the fully grown brine shrimp now, the larger ones are about as big as a house fly. I reckon they are about 15 times bigger than the eggs they started from. Not having as much luck with batch 2, different mother, different quality eggs. Only a few wrigglers in the nursery tank tonight.

cool to hear they're doing fine.
I'd surely be tempted to get over a 100 tanks and keep them all.

It's spooky you guys should say that because I was just watching them and thinking about how hard it's gonna be to take em to a petshop where some idiot might buy them and put them in a goldfish tank. I would love to keep them but I would need a BIG space..... I'm already suffering empty tank syndrome. Did you guys see that YouTube clip where some tool put an Oscar in with a heap of piranhas? What if he buys my babies???

You shouldn't worry about that.
You cannot guarantee their future for them.
You can only provide for them as long as you got them under your care.

But i see your point, for when i was breeding rats, i had too many to keep, and i still had to take some to the LPS.
And i just knew that if they weren't sold, they'd become snakefood...
i eventually stopped breeding them.

That is just awesome.

How do you do water changes and avoid sucking the babies out?
4xOscars
1xBlood Parrot
2xJDs (pair)
5xClown Loaches
1xPleco

265 Gallons (84x24x30)
36" T5 Light for shading, sunlight effects
300 Gallon rated Living Color wet-dry sump
3L of SeaChem Matrix + Bioballss, ceramic rings etc...
1xIvy for nitrate filtering

I am always looking for better ways to enhance the lives of my babies. Hit me up, let's chat about fish!

Yep, seen that too, but i do not condone such behaviour.
surely, it may be more natural food than pellets, but i hate to see animals suffer before they get eaten.
Same with the vid of a gar eating a mouse, the poor mouse suffers and eventually chokes, before it finally is eaten.
i even stopped feeding live fish to my fish for it makes me feel bad.

but Sharyn, do you plan to keep at least some of them?
I'd surely make an extra tank, just to keep a few.

Initially I was putting one of those little bags you get with the filter media over the end of my vacuum, it was fine because all of the waste fits through the net. But what I have found is that I can generally avoid them and if I do snag one they are actually strong enough to swim out now if I tip the end up. I always check the buckets before I tip them out because occasionally I have one of the little suckers trying to go on vacation! Because I do pwc at least once a day, they pretty much go about their business while I am doing it and I can avoid them because they stay in little schools, all clumped together.

Absolutely! What my husband doesn't know is that I am going to use the proceeds of my sales to buy a great big whopping tank set up and keep a couple!!!
