Right now I have a 160 gallon tank with 3 oscars 1 tiger and 2 albinos and other then that I have a 55 gallon tank not being used. If I buy2 lemon oscars can I grow them large enough in the 55 to add to my 160. I am contemplating just getting another 160 and 6 baby lemons to increase my chances. Where I live no pet stores have lemon oscars and I have called every one so If I could breed them I believe there is a market for the baby o's. By the time the lemons reach maturity I hope to have my albinos breeding so I can get down hatching. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't put any more oscars in your 160 gallon tank. regarding the 55 gallon tank, yes, as long as you weren't planning on keeping the Oscars in the smaller tank permanently, you could easily grow them to seven or 8 inches ready for a bigger tank.

If you are planning on getting six Oscars in the hope of obtaining a pair, remember that you'll have to wait untill they reach maturity, which will probably be more than a year. By that time, they could be 10 inches, even more. You're going to have a real hard time maintaining water quality in the 160 gallon tank. I did it here, but I had the 300 gallon tank that I could transfer some of them into. Personally, I would do it with three Oscars if you haven't got a really big tank. Even with three Oscars, you should have at least one male, or female

I think thats the best advice. if the worst happened and you end up with 3 males then maybe trade one in for another antill you have a pair of oscars. They grow real fast so it wouldnt take long for a new baby to reach a size to put in with your fish and you have a 55g to grow it in.
