I have a pair of Oscars (1 red, 1 tiger) that laid eggs last night. I didnt witness the act but I think the Tiger is a male and Red is female. The eggs appear to be more tan than white but this is the first time they have laid eggs and they are young (approx 15 months) so who knows if they are really fertilized. The tiger is guarding the eggs VERY closely and now won't even let the Red anywhere near. He even charges the class every now and then when we try to look. There are 3 clown loaches and a Pleco but they stay away from the Tiger and eggs on the opposite end of the 150 tank. He is very aggressive towards the Red when she gets close. Is this normal? I was expecting both of them to guard the eggs.

my oscars had laid eggs several times and they guarded the eggs
in tandem. yes, they were driving everyone who come near the slate.
unfortunately, all fries were taken by my angel fish.
