just want to show new comer on how the oscar clean their slate during
spawning.
things to remember:
1) they will not take their food for a while
2) nobody could come near their slate (will bite you if you put you hand in)
3) always circling the slate and remove everything near it.
4) always try to push the slate to test stability. if it does move
they will not laid eggs on it.

there are time is teased the owner to put it in the oven, and i will
provide beers.

btw, when i come home a while ago, i found my oscars had laid load of
eggs. i will post pictures tomorrow at my office. this time, hopefully
i can hatch them accordingly. a lot of fish shop here are waiting for
my fingerlings. there are few supplies available for the hobbyist.

and this is what i've got when i came back 8 hours later.
a load of eggs. hopefully i can hatch them this time since
the angel and the pangasius had been relocated.
cross my fingers it won't be infested by fungi.

bad news! when i left this morning, i applied some
methalene blue to keep fungi under check. when i got
hom this evening, all eggs are gone. the parents had
taken them out... may be because i did not feed them
today or may be due to the methalene blue.....

anyway, i will wait another spawning and make sure to
remove the fertilized eggs immediately like what i did
the previous spawning.

if you have your oscars in their own tank now why not just let them do the parenting work? unless you are impatient for a batch of fry just wait till they get it right.

that is exactly what i thought. i just applied methalene
blue to avoid fungi infection of the eggs. however, they
took all of the eggs.

during previous spawning, i pulled out the slate
and put it in a bucket with methablue. eggs did hatch
but i am not ready yet then, so i put them back in the
tank for angel's taking.

meth blue is usually used to artificially hatch eggs. i wouldnt bother with it if you leave the eggs with the parents. they will fan the eggs to ensure that they hatch...well if they ever stop eating them that is.........

do you think driving the pebbles back near to
the slate may cause the eating ventures?
i did use the nozzle of the pump to drive the
pebbles away from the suction point resulting
to go back near or partially to the slate. perhaps
removing those pebbles make them eat the eggs.
