Oscars don't get sexually mature until 18 months. So you'll need at least a 200g tank to see who pairs up over the next 12 months.

 I thought oscars were supposed to pair off between 8 to 9 inches. Then once they get bigger they would do the Dew. So is there a recomended amount of oscars u need to get in order for a breeding pair to form. Thinking of trying four oscars.

the only difference between 4 and 6 is there is more of a chance of getting a male and a female that like each other the numbers don't make them more comfortable from what I understand... you just better you odds at a pair ...

Even at 8-9 inches you would need a 200g tank to house 4 oscars for the next year. There's always venting them at 8"

I dont mind getting a bigger tank I think i could deal with that. I think a 300 gallon would be more efficiant exspeacially if they had baby's. I was thinking of getting some red oscars to breed considering there in such a high demand compared to tigers and albino's. The one petsore i goto would like me to start breeding these fish considering there supplier usually dont have them.

I know a 300 gallon tanks is a little pricey but it will deffinatly be worth it in the end cause everybody's happy and i get paid. The petco guy said he will pay the same price for what he gets them for if i can supply them with the baby's and medium type red's. I find that reasonable and pretty cool but the down side is how long its gonna be before they reproduce. If i could find and by a breeding pair it would speed thing's up a bit quicker.
