How big is you tank?

yes it can be normal if they are fighting over territories and upset... or establishing a pecking order !

but if the tank is not big enough its going to get bad

I am sorry to say that your tank is not big enough for one Oscar, let alone two. You need to upgrade straightaway. If you can't upgrade then I don't see how you can possibly keep Oscars long term.

Charcoal is not decoration, it is filter media and as the shop guide told you, will remove impurities from the water. However, it's not something that we recommend keeping in your filter all the time.

do not use charcoal. It hides the problems with the water quality

x2. Charcoal hides more than it helps, and that's about 85 liters of water (22 US gallons), which is about three times too small for one oscar.
