if you are planning to learn the process of artificial hatching,
you must snatch the slate with eggs, otherwise the parents will
just eat them.... anyway, you can pour back the fries to the parent's
tank later if you are not keen of keeping any fries...

they will spawn again soon, so maybe wait and see if your oscars won't be parents, and defend their spawn, and not eat them. If they do eat them, you can pull them out next time.

Update: I decided to leave the eggs in the tank. I did remove the pleco and put it with my texas cichlids. So there are no predators. I left the tank light on overnight, and there are still eggs in the tank!!! The daddy oscar seems to protect them more than the momma. I have to leave for work soon so i guess this will be the real test. I will leave the eggs in but if they start eating them i will remove to the standby tank. Thanks guys, I will keep u posted and update with more pics.

2nd update: Hey guys, the eggs have survived still. That's the good news, the bad is the some of the eggs that were not fertilized have started to spread to other eggs. I am unsure what to do at this point. The oscars seem to leave the eggs every now and then and don't seem as protective as they once were. Should i just leave the eggs there till they hatch? Or will they be over taken by the fungus from the other eggs?

if the oscars don't care for the eggs then the fungus will most likely spread, what you can do is seperate them and use methylene blue, and if possible remove the infected eggs.

3rd Update: Well i removed the eggs today and placed them in the standby tank. I used tweezers to try and remove as many infertile eggs as i could and added some "maroxy", non of my stores sold meth blue. Some of the eggs look white still and others look slightly tanish. I took a pic but my phone camera is crap! I also have a pic of the maroxy. let me know what you guys think. tomorrow should be hatch day...i hope so.
